Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,
As we begin a new calendar year we look back and see where our journey has taken us. and look forward to seeing what might be ahead of us on our road. We hope that we didn’t make too many mistakes or wrong turns in the past and hope and pray that we don’t make the same ones in the year ahead. If we look back it looks like our journey might be a zig zag road or even at times went backwards. We can learn from our pasts, but at the same time we need to be careful that we don’t continue to look back. Otherwise, the road forward will be the same. We need to keep looking forward and keep our eyes on Jesus.
In life, we often wonder if we’ve chosen the right road, made the right turn, or missed something important. Uncertainty creeps in, and we question where we stand. But God meets us in the unknown. Even here, especially here, grace is at work. You are not off course. You are exactly where you’re meant to be, held in the care of a God who never loses track of His beloved children.
We all are wandering on our journey. And as we wander, we wonder how we are doing and what it is all about. This makes me think about the Christmas song, “I Wonder as I Wander.”
I wonder as I wander, out under the sky, how Jesus the Savior did come for to die for poor ordinary people like you and like I. I wonder as I wander, out under the sky.
When Mary birthed Jesus, all in a cow’s stall, came wisemen and farmers and shepherds and all, and high from the heavens a star’s light did fall; the promise of the ages it then did recall.
If Jesus had wanted for any wee thing, a star in the sky or a bird on the wing, or all of God’s angels in heaven to sing, He surely could have had it, cause he was the king.
As we go forward into the new year, remember that Jesus is with you. You are right you are meant to be, sharing the “Good News” with all you meet. So, no matter what you are doing or where you are doing your journey we are called as God’s children to go out make a difference in the name of Jesus Christ. Bringing the Light of the World into the shadows of darkness where the darkness cannot overcome it.
“The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places;
I have a goodly heritage.”
(Psalm 16:6)
God’s Blessings.
