Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,
Have you ever considered yourself as a beacon of light? Well, you are. Our life is a beacon of light to reflect God’s love. We are called to let that beacon of light shine brightly so that it is inspiring others to see God’s love through us. In which we glorify God. We do this in simple ways by letting others know through an act of touch, a warm smile, or words of encouragement.
There are times when it is easy to let your light shine and it shines brightly. Things are going along quite well, and we have a lot to be thankful for. It is important that we let it show, but we need to be careful that we don’t make it all about us. We need to make it all about God. For it is His light that shines in us and through us.
Then there are times in our lives that we don’t feel like letting that light shine. We are letting the darkness consume us and take over our lives. We feel that there is no light burning within us. We might especially feel this way when a loved one passes away, or things are not going quite right in our lives. But the flame is still there. It needs the love of God to rekindle it and the Spirit’s wind to make it burn brightly again.
Sometimes in our lives we don’t realize how much we let that light shine before others. When we do that and not realize it, we are truly being the beacon of light and hope that God wants us to be. We are glorifying our Father in heaven.
I know that many of you think that I am crazy, and you may be correct. I find myself enjoying doing some manual work such as mowing the lawn, baling hay, folding towels, working in the garden, and even doing dishes. More times than not, I find myself singing songs to God while doing them. Sometimes I am singing out loud or in my mind. That is letting that beacon of light shine. And yes, I have been caught by others doing this. If I am
lucky, it might even make their light shine a little brighter. We need to pray to our Lord and ask Him to help us shine brightly so that our actions and words bring glory to His name.
God’s Blessings,
Pastor Gary
